I am usually not very good at articulating into words the things my heart would like to say so this Father’s Day, I thought I would write a little letter to my Daddy to tell him all the things I love and appreciate about him.
Although no relationship in life is perfect, I am really thankful for the Dad I was blessed with.
So Daddy, this is to say I love you and Happy Father’s Day!
What can I say? It has been a pleasure to be your daughter these past 30 years. I am looking forward to the next 30.
You are an amazing man. You have demonstrated what it means to work hard. You are the epitome of a hard worker. Your character in private and public is a beautiful thing. You always want to do the right thing not only by your family, but by your friends as well as clients.
Some of my favorite memories with you include watching the Thomas the Train show with Ringo Starr as the conductor in the mornings before school.
Anytime I wanted to go to the mall and hit up Claire’s or Limited Too, you were always up for it! I think you secretly enjoy shopping 🙂
I also loved the notes you would leave me on the coffee spoon napkin in the mornings when you left for work before I was awake. A simple, “I love you dad.”
I also loved the fact that any time I was nervous about sleeping through my alarm which rarely ever happened, you would call me in college to make sure I was awake. You would also text me the weather report to make sure I always knew what to wear.
Yes, you worked tirelessly and still do, but it honestly were the simple things…the moments spent together…..the sweet notes. Those are the things I will cherish forever.
I also cherish the fact that for the past four years, I have had the opportunity to work for you. I know I can be bossy, but you are patient with me (most of the time) and have taught me and continue to teach me so much.
We may not be the big wheel but we are the spokes that keep the big wheel turning!
I love you always daddy. Happy Father’s Day. Cheers to many more years celebrating and working together!
